Roxie Mae is a singer/songwriter from Indianapolis, Indiana. She began singing literally as a baby, singing the tag line "Burn Baby Burn" to the song "Disco Inferno" by The Trammps at age one. In kindergarten Roxie performed her first solo in front of a large crowd of parents and peers at her Benson, Arizona elementary school. That started her singing in front of anyone and everyone. She was hooked. At age ten she began writing songs, and stories. After receiving a keyboard for her 12th birthday; she started making little demos. She dutifully notes her biggest inspiration to be Deborah Gibson. In high school, Roxie took on acting in plays, and singing competitions where she won first prize. Her biggest high school thrill was playing in front of a large crowd at the Indiana State Fair at age 16. At age 18 she met a 50's rocker Ronnie Haig and quickly became his back up singer along with her sister. Ronnie and Roxie started collaborating together and he soon became a member of the family marrying Roxie's sister in 1996. In 1998, Roxie and Ronnie began recording songs together. Roxie also started modeling locally. In 2002, Roxie wrote and recorded a tribute song to one of her fave musicians, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes of the R&B group TLC, who was killed in a car accident while visiting Honduras. This song has now been donated 100% to helping out the Lisa Lopes Foundation. In 2003, Roxie was asked to record the vocals to a song dedicated to the families that lost loved ones on the Columbia Shuttle tragedy. The song " Our Heroes" has been played around the world including the White House. In 2004, Roxie's debut album, Shades of Blue was released. Featuring songs from many years of writing it showed Roxie's desire of being a positive role model for young women. Roxie has since joined the many Indie artist on promotion via the internet and downloads. In 2005 Shades Of Blue was available virtually anywhere including Verizon Wireless phones. During this time Roxie also began writing stories for childrens' books, which she hopes to release in the near future. Early 2007 brought Roxie's sophomore album, Vintage Love Letters. Since the release, this cd has become one of the most downloaded cd's on Rhapsody, Apple iTunes, and on CD Baby. Roxie has also enjoyed success with creating her own projects, like "Natural Beauty." Natural Beauty is geared towards increasing the positive thinking in young women and healthy body image. Utilizing her status as a female who has had her own issues with low-self esteem; she has started the program to help young girls realize their true potential and beauty.
Roxie is currently working on getting her songs heard by singers needing songs, and working on inspirational children stories. Her third release, Diamond Moon has been released only through this website.
